 Maleena Lawrence Maleena currently works with Tavis Smiley Media serving as Production Coordinator to support a series of PBS Specials for “Tavis Smiley Reports”. In addition, Maleena is co-owner of MaStep Productions, LLC. MaStep produces social-political documentaries, highlights fresh talent and provides production support for special events, television, multi-media and film. In between her state of seriousness, Maleena is the co-author of “JustFriends”?, a highly anticipated relationship book about Dating. She works passionately to stay connected to the human spirit while providing inspiration, social responsibility solutions and empowerment to transform across generational spectrums in our global community. Maleena has managed conference logistics for Candidate Boot Camp, strategic development for non-profit political action organizations at the national level, local civic leagues, even lobbied alongside grassroots community reformists for racial and gender equality. Maleena spearheaded GOTV and issue based campaigns at Jim Gonzalez & Associates, outreach projects for the BRAT-PAC, Constituent services for the office of Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-9), CBC Watchdog Group, Black Voices for Peace, United for Peace & Justice, The Drug Policy Alliance, prestigiously served as tenured Ralph J. Bunche Fellow for Amnesty International in the nation’s capital and a co-founder of Organized Community of United People (www.voxunion.com) where grassroots media educates and critically analyzes issues affecting a universal Diaspora of precious communities.
